Amara Health Analytics, Inc. today announced that it has selected Capsule Tech, Inc. as the exclusive North America reseller of Amaras Clinical Vigilance for Sepsis product, the industrys most accurate decision support software for aiding providers in the early identification of hospital patients at risk of sepsis. Capsule will offer Clinical Vigilance for Sepsis as part of its recently introduced SmartLinx Medical Device Information System (MDIS), the industrys first MDIS. Capsule has been the leading global provider of medical device integration solutions to hospitals for over a decade.

“Capsule’s SmartLinx system is a perfect complement to Clinical Vigilance for Sepsis because the real-time data feed from SmartLinx, combined with the other hundred-plus clinical variables in our predictive model, enables Clinical Vigilance to send alerts to hospital staff at the earliest possible moment,” said Steve Nathan, chief executive officer at Amara. “Capsule’s current presence in over 1,650 hospitals in 37 countries, and its reach to many more, makes it an excellent avenue for putting Clinical Vigilance in a position to help clinicians in managing sepsis.”

Sepsis has been declared a global medical emergency by the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA), with Konrad Reinhart, M.D., Chairman of the GSA, noting that “Tens of millions of people die from sepsis each year, making it the likely leading cause of death worldwide.” In the U.S., according to the latest data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), there are over 800,000 cases of sepsis annually, resulting in high mortality and a cost of over $ 20 billion to the healthcare system.

“Extensive research has shown that early identification of sepsis is key to successful outcomes and lower hospital costs,” said Susan Niemeier, RN, chief nursing officer at Capsule. “Clinical Vigilance for Sepsis supports clinicians in very early identification and, just as important, its extremely high accuracy avoids the alarm fatigue that can occur with other hospital alerting systems.”

“Our approach to predictive analytics benefits from as much raw data as possible,” said Dr. Christopher Rosin, Amara’s chief scientist. “For example, we get important signal by applying deep natural language processing to clinical text, and we use machine learning to intelligently filter the physiological data streams from SmartLinx. We’re excited about our partnership with Capsule because of the importance of timely monitoring of data to delivering to hospitals the best results from Clinical Vigilance for Sepsis.”

Amara, Capsule, and Dr. Ryan Arnold of Christiana Care Health System will discuss “Using Predictive Analytics to Improve Sepsis Outcomes” at the New York Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Chapter conference on April 23 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

The Agro-Website of Dr. agr. Volker Kleinhenz provides his curriculum vitae, a number of presentations developed during his employment for scientific, commercial and rural-development companies, several packages of cultivation practices for production of different crops, and multiple publications. The section on his publications includes his 47 scientific papers in HTML as well as downloadable PDF format.

Besides this information the website also covers the global experiences of Dr. agr. Volker Kleinhenz. The latter experiences result from long-term employment and from short-term consultancies in various parts of the world. His experiences in Cambodia, on the Maldives and in Vietnam are now covered by newly published GPS maps and dedicated picture galleries in these three sections of the site.

The picture gallery “Cambodia” has been updated to include mapped GPS data of his regular travel around more than three districts and 14 communes of Cambodia’s Kampong Chhnang province as Technical Advisor. Another picture gallery featuring the “Maldives” has been updated to include GPS data of Volker’s travel within three atolls of the Maldives. The third newly updated picture gallery “Vietnam” presents GPS data of Volker’s travel within Vietnam’s Ha Tinh province. All these maps including a global map which features his global experiences are presented as Google maps.

Volker publishes business plans for a number of crops cultivated with different agronomic techniques in the Crop Cultivation section of his site. While most cropping plans cover open-field crop management technologies including furrow irrigation, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation for multiple field-grown vegetables, one business plan features fertigated greenhouse tomatoes. The latest additions to this set of Packages of Practices (POP) include one for a traditional transplanted 90-days crop of rice and one for a directly sown rice crop. These POPs can be used to calculate the profitability of rice production under locally prevailing costs for inputs including labor, fuel and fertilizer.

Volker’s homepage also includes his continuously updated Curriculum vitae in HTML, DOC and PDF formats. Besides his assignments as a referee for several premium international agricultural journals including Scientia Horticulturae and the Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics (JARTS), Volker regularly conducts telephone consultancies.

The above details are also available through Volker Kleinhenz’s LinkedIn profile and his Twitter account @VolkerKleinhenz. A German website is available at VolkerKleinhenz.de.

Integrated Circuit (IC) design teams are constantly struggling with the increasing pressure to make end user products smaller in size, more reliable, affordable, with more advanced features, and superior performance, all in the face of decreasing product life cycles and time to market. While semiconductor manufacturing processes have transformed significantly to allow a phenomenal increase in the number of electronic circuits incorporated on a single chip (with the advent of System-on-Chips), design capabilities resources have not kept pace with the developments in this technology ensuing in a widening design gap between their advancing manufacturing potential and restrained design capabilities. In order to address this widening design gap, several semiconductor designers and manufacturers are progressively choosing to license silicon-proven intellectual property (IP) such as processor cores, memory and application-specific logic blocks, and many more, from third party Semiconductor (silicon) Intellectual Property (SIP) companies rather than developing those technologies internally.
