Integrated Circuit (IC) design teams are constantly struggling with the increasing pressure to make end user products smaller in size, more reliable, affordable, with more advanced features, and superior performance, all in the face of decreasing product life cycles and time to market. While semiconductor manufacturing processes have transformed significantly to allow a phenomenal increase in the number of electronic circuits incorporated on a single chip (with the advent of System-on-Chips), design capabilities resources have not kept pace with the developments in this technology ensuing in a widening design gap between their advancing manufacturing potential and restrained design capabilities. In order to address this widening design gap, several semiconductor designers and manufacturers are progressively choosing to license silicon-proven intellectual property (IP) such as processor cores, memory and application-specific logic blocks, and many more, from third party Semiconductor (silicon) Intellectual Property (SIP) companies rather than developing those technologies internally.

CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange will celebrate an important 40-year milestone in Paris on April 1. Since the CIEE Study Center in Paris opened in 1974 on the rue du Sentier, it has been key to CIEE’s mission to help young people gain knowledge and skills to thrive in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.

Over the past four decades, this center has welcomed thousands of American students, helping to foster their understanding of French culture and provide ongoing opportunities for them to stay in touch and be part of a growing network of resources.

CIEE will mark its anniversary with a special evening at the Maison de l’architecture for staff, special guests, students, and alumni from a variety of CIEE programs, including Study Abroad and Internship USA. The event will include presentations from several guests, including Caroline Ryan, managing director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in France.

We are very excited to have Caroline share the important work of AmCham with our French J-1 Exchange alumni and U.S. Study Abroad students, given that both CIEE and AmCham are global leaders in the promotion of cross-cultural learning and understanding between France and the U.S., says Dan Olds, director of CIEE Alumni Relations.

Alumni will have an opportunity to connect with others who live, work, and study in Paris. Our alumni network in France and the U.S. is rich with talented and dedicated people who are changing the world in their communities and organizations every day, says Olds. Its exciting to have our alumni together at events like this so they can exchange ideas and keep this momentum going.

Selected for its rich history and architectural interest, the building that is now the Maison de l’architecture originally was built in the early 1600s as the home of a Franciscan order. The Recollects, as it was known for years, was renovated in 2003, and is now a regional architectural training center and headquarters of the Regional Council of the Order of Architects of Ile-de-France.

CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange

Founded in 1947, CIEE is the countrys oldest and largest nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization, serving 300 U.S. colleges and universities, 1,000 U.S. high schools, and more than 35,000 international exchange students each year. CIEE operates 60 study centers in 40 countries, sponsors international faculty training programs, teach abroad programs, and various specialty and custom programs for secondary, postsecondary, and international students.
